Type 1 Diabetes Car Magnet.?

I want to get a car magnet (for my car obviously) so that if I’m driving like I’m drunk they know that I’m diabetic. However, I don’t really want one that’s all for the cure thing. Yeah I want a cure but I just want one that basically says "I am type 1 diabetic". But I can’t find one.

I really don’t think you should be driving if you’re drunk. So all in all this defeats the purpose. ——————–

No offense, but you better never get yourself in a situation where you are "driving like a drunk" due to low or high blood sugar. That is why you have a blood sugar meter and insulin and snacks, and if you ever mess up and go low, you need to wait until you recover before you drive. Otherwise you are being dangerous to you and everyone around you.

    I agree with logical1.

If you do get stopped for driving like you’re drunk, you’ll be charged for DUI (Driving Under the Influence) … this time of insulin.

I agree with the others, plus you don’t want to "advertise" that you’re Type 1 or you might get pulled over for something silly. A lot of cops are ignorant about Type 1 and all they’ve heard is that it can result in erratic driving. Best to stay away from this one. Make sure you’re wearing a Medic Alert bracelet at all times…that will suffice.

I googled "diabetes car magnet" and came up with more than a dozen likely looking magnet vendors, but most say "Fight Diabetes" or "Support Juvenile Diabetes Research" or etc.
I’m not sure a magnet such as you suggest would do much for you… if a policeperson pulls you over they will be asking for your license, insurance, etc, papers….. I keep a diabetic ID card in my wallet, in case someone ever finds me lying in the street next to my bicycle etc.
There are many diabetic ID bracelets available, in most drugstores, and I used to wear one when I was first diagnosed with diabetes many years ago. I’ve never had occasion where it was useful and I’m not that tolerant of things around my wrists, even watchbands. hopefully if I’m ever "out of it" to the point I cannot communicate with others they might spot my diabetes card.. it might prevent a drunk driving charge but it may still result in a "driving while impaired" charge.
If you have occasional spells where you’re "driving like a drunk" you should NOT be driving. Yeah, I know, you gotta get where you’re going, you need to work, shop, etc., but you endanger yourself and others by driving if you have unpredictable woozy spells to the point you are unable or unwilling to just promptly pull off the roadway, turn on the emergency flashers, dig out the BG test kit, and try to figure out what’s wrong.
The basic guidance has always been, when in doubt, eat or drink something sweet. If your BG is already high, it will go higher, but that is a longer term threat and does not quickly alter your ability to think, reason, and function. If your BG is low, it will hopefully snap you up to sufficient alertness to be able to figure out what to do next.
When I’m the least bit confused or questionable I ask my wife to drive. Whenever she raises the least question about my driving or behavior, I immediately pull over and let her drive. Better safe and embarrassed than sorry, or however the saying goes. Driving a vehicle is an extremely dangerous and complicated operation, and if we have frequent "spells" we should stop driving, even permanently if need be, to protect ourselves and others. If you’re brand new to the diabetes thing, you may find (as many of us have) that the wild swings in mood and alarm with high and low BG will taper off with time and becoming more accustomed and attuned to the disease. Most of us could ride a trike to most of our daily destinations, helping to lower our blood sugar and increasing our general health in the bargain. And, if we get woozy or dizzy, no danger of falling off or tipping over.
