My neck has been black for 2 years or more I think. It hasn’t always been this way though. I would scrub at my neck but it doesn’t change (One time it did =/) Is there any natural remedies I can use to get rid of it. I don’t trust chemicals or those skin lighting creams. What are the benefits of lowering your sugar intake in your daily diet?1

I’ve been cutting out on sugar here recently. Not that anything is wrong, just trying to keep my sugar blood level low. I’ve had diabetics in the family, so for health reasons I am sugar conscious of what I eat. Anyway, can lowering your sugar level improve your overall health, and sports performance too?

Yes it can. Too much sugar can cause you to have a burst of energy, but then within the hour you crash and feel tired and sluggish. Also Diabetes can develop when you eat too much of it. To get the most out sports and overall health, stick to complex carbs, like things made out of whole grains. They will give you lots of energy over a longer period of time, and keep your blood sugar level.

Should Ins. companies pay for gastric bypass surgery if lives are at risk and the surgeryis there best hope?2

Gastric Bypass surgery ( roux en Y ) has now been proven through long term studies to cure type 2 diabetes in 95 percent of patients. Reported on MSNBC

I have had gastric bypass surgery and belong to a Yahoo group for support. They are now doing surgeries on people who are not overweight to cure diabetes. The cure rate is so high. What we believe really doesn’t matter. Insurance companies are slow to start covering anything that costs them money. Some policies even list GBS as an exclusion.

Besides, if you haven’t researched the procedure, most people think it is a surgery that makes it easy to lose weight. That is so far from the truth. In reality I have to watch every single day to be sure that I get all the nutrients I need. People die of malnutrition by not watching what they eat after this surgery, not that that’s very common because we learn how important eating correctly effects our life.

So the person who answered your question stating that this surgery has not been proven to cure diabetes is incorrect. The hormone in the lower section of your stomach no longer interacts with any food. That’s what the cure is about, not about what you eat after surgery.

Cure for Diabetes!?4

is it true that they found a new cure for diabetes (other than Herbal thing)? something that makes sense?
specially for type-1 diabetes?!

No, there is no cure for now except a pancreas transplant. (and the herbal thing is not for real) If there was a cure, your doctor would tell you right away.
There have been many, many claims just like the above answer and they are all not true. We discuss this at almost every diabetic ed class that I go to because there is always some new claim. (I go every month) Most of them are just money making schemes.

can cornstarch helps lowering your blood sugar?2

can cornstarch help with lowering your blood sugar

corn starch is used as a thickening agent.. like soups, gravies, and other liquid foods. an example of this is the difference between a soup and a stew… since stews are usually thicker liquid you add corn starch. to make gravy you take the pan casting from your meet (beef juice, turkey juice ) and add corn starch to thicken the liquid, a little water and there you go its all gravy. corn starch is not a sugar.

you are probably thinking of High-fructose corn syrup which is a sugar.

alternative natural cure for jaundice and diabetes?3

I am new here my husband told me to try asking my question here and I hope I can get some help.

My dad has both jaundise and diabetes. his health seems to be getting worse. Im not sure that his medications are helping him. He takes metforman and adriamycin. He seems to be getting worse.

i just want to know if anyone has heard of any alternitive natural cures and therapies that might work for his conditions. I am open to any ideas. Thankyou

Why is he on Adriamycin? Is there some information you are not giving? Adriamycin is a chemotherapy agent.
Metformin is an anti-diabetic drug with a possible side effect of LIVER DAMAGE and jaundice. (see reference given) Sounds like he needs to be on something different…now. Even if he has to take insulin shots for a while , I would think that would be better than those potentially life-threatening side effects. THEN you can pursue natural options once you stop the poisoning. If he gets on something with less damaging side-effects, then he can pursue other options to stop diabetes (depending on cause). Exercise included. Since you don’t mention that he takes insulin shots, that probably means his pancreas is still functional…so, dietary and lifestyle modifications will help a great deal.

eg: If your thumb hurt, you’d want to stop hitting it with a hammer before wrapping it and applying ice.

How effective is exercise for lowering blood sugar?2

I checked my blood sugar and it was 390 (yes, I ate a candy bar), so I exercised for 10 min, and checked it again. The second time it was 136. Does exercise really work that fast in lowering your blood sugar level, or is there something wrong with my machine?

Just for the record, I do very well in controlling my eating habits, but today I did blow it.
Brady…. What are you talking about? My question had nothing to do with losing weight. I’m asking about exercise, and how fast it lowers your blood sugar level.

it doesn’t work that instantaneously. for most people exercise makes the glucose level go up a bit as Gary says, but not too much. I am allergic to any exercise that isn’t fun. so gym things are totally out and track things as well. I much prefer dancing or just plain walking as fast as I can. and no 10 minutes at a time either. I walk an hour every day as fast as I can.

My endo said that a "cheat treat" occasionally won’t hurt anything. It keeps us from getting the cravings for a food that we don’t usually get to have. He said for instance if I go to a grandchild’s birthday party it is ok to have the cake and ice cream, but try to have only a half serving. and to be sure to cut some grams of carb from the meal preceeding the party or "cheat treat" to compensate for the number I would be having.

It might have been a bad strip. Any time I get an off the wall reading, I do another to make sure. One candy bar shouldn’t have shot you up quite that high.

Can diabetic neuropathy for type 2 diabetes be cured ?5

I cured mine. I was falling down about three times a week, because the message from my brain didn’t get through to my knee.

"Japanese scientists have identified a form of vitamin B-12 that protects against neurological disease and aging by a unique mechanism that differs from current therapies."

"Some of the disorders that may be preventable or treatable with this natural vitamin therapy, called methylcobalamin, include chronic fatigue syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, peripheral neuropathies, Alzheimer’s disease, muscular dystrophy and neurological aging. Americans have immediate access to this unique and new form of vitamin B-12, and, unlike prescription drugs, it costs very little and is free of side effects."

I used 30,000 mcg/day for ten days and then 10,000 to 15,000 mcg/day. It took a couple of months, but now has been over six months since I have fallen.

Control your Diabetes By Vitamin C and Vitamin E2

Many of the vitamins like Vitamin B complex, Thiamine or Vitamin B1 and Pyridoxine or Vitamin B6 are great controller of diabetes. Other vitamins like vitamin C and vitamin E also works great in controlling diabetes. Have a look on the benefits how they can help you controlling your diabetes.

Vitamin C - Vitamin C is considered highly beneficial in treating diabetes. Because of stress, urinary losses and destruction by artificial sweeteners, the vitamin C requirement is usually high in diabetics. Large amounts of this vitamin sometimes bring very good results. Dr. George V Mann in Perspective in Biology and Medicine recommended extra vitamin C for diabetics. Natural insulin output increases in diabetics with supplementary doses of vitamin C.

The intake of vitamin C in the form of dried Indian gooseberry (amla), the richest known source of vitamin C, or tablets of 500 mg or from natural sources of vitamin C besides amla, are citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, sprouted Bengal gram and green grams.

Vitamin E - This vitamin reduces considerably the devastating vascular damage accompanying diabetes. Dr. Willard Shute in The Complete Book of Vitamins recommends 800-1600 IU of vitamin E a day to prevent arterial degeneration in diabetes.

A Swedish study also supports vitamin E therapy for treating diabetes. Vitamin E helps diabetics decrease their insulin requirements. It would be advisable for a diabetes patient to take a daily dose of 200 IU of this vitamin for a fortnight at a time. Rich Sources of Vitamin E. Valuable natural foods sources of this vitamin are wheat or cereal germ, whole grain products, fruits and green leafy vegetables, milk and all whole raw or sprouted seeds.

Other rich sources of vitamin E are cold pressed crude vegetable oils, especially sunflower seeds, safflower, and Soya beans oils, raw and sprouted seeds and grains, alfalfa, lettuce, almond, human milk etc.

Vitamin A - Diabetics are unable to convert beta-carotine to vitamin A. A supplement of this vitamin, therefore, becomes necessary. A dose of 15000 IU on alternate days is considered adequate by some authorities.
